The Hose at a Glance
A hose consists of four main components: the lumen, the lining, the spiral and the cover. Each of these four layers fulfils its own function and is essential for the overall functionality of the tubing system.
Lumen - the Innermost Layer
A hose consists of several components. Starting with the innermost layer, i.e. the layer that comes into contact with the material being transported. Accordingly, it is important to select the raw materials used precisely. The material must therefore be both chemically compatible and physically robust enough to withstand various stresses - including chemical fumes, gases, liquids and abrasive materials. Our hoses have a smooth flow channel, the so-called lumen. This allows the exact capacity and transport capacity of the hose to be calculated. The exact volume is determined by measuring the inner diameter of the lumen and its length. The volume is then calculated using the formula V=πr2LV=πr2L, where rr is the radius of the lumen and LL is the length of the tube.
Garment / Lining - the Middle Layer(s)
The lining of the hose is a decisive factor for its performance and versatility. Various materials are used in the production of our hoses, resulting in different hose types. Our range includes spiral and braided hoses as well as single and multi-layer versions made of neoprene and silicone. We also offer clip hoses made from a wide range of materials.
Furthermore, the lining must fulfil a number of critical requirements. It should ensure stability, have a high kink resistance and at the same time offer sufficient flexibility for use under various conditions. Depending on their specific application, our hoses are designed to be flexible and compressible. They are also designed to be heat-resistant, hydrolysis-resistant and permanently anti-static.
Through this careful selection and specification of lining materials, we ensure that each hose offers the optimum performance for its particular conditions of use and maximises longevity under the intended operating conditions.
Spiral - the Reinforcement
We work with steel or plastic spirals for our spiral hoses. The type of spiral varies depending on the requirements of the hose.
The winding direction of the spiral in a hose can be left-handed or right-handed, depending on the direction in which the spiral is wound. This characteristic is decisive for assembly and the selection of the appropriate accessories. Strict manufacturing guidelines must be adhered to in the food and pharmaceutical industries. We are prepared for these requirements and have the necessary qualifications and the right coils to meet these standards.
Outer Bore - the Outer Layer
The outer layer of the hose, also known as the outer bore, plays a crucial role in protecting both the inside of the hose and the environment in which the hose is used. It must be robust and flexible at the same time to ensure easy handling. In addition, it is necessary that the hose cover can permanently withstand the chemical, mechanical and physical stresses, similar to the hose interior.
